About NA’AMAT USA
NA’AMAT USA is the American arm of NA’AMAT, the largest women’s organization in Israel, founded in 1925 as the Women’s Organization for the Pioneer Women of Palestine. Early leaders, including Golda Meir, helped shape its founding role in building the modern State of Israel, and today NA’AMAT partners with NA’AMAT Israel to fund and support a network of daycare centers, youth villages, high schools, women’s rights and health centers, a domestic violence shelter, legal aid bureaus, and scholarship programs for academically gifted women.
NA’AMAT USA operates as a national volunteer membership organization with a national office in Los Angeles and chapters and councils across the United States, engaging American Jews in Israel-centered activism, philanthropy, and fellowship. Members raise funds and advocate on issues relating to women’s rights, the welfare of children and families, education, and the U.S.-Israel relationship.
The organization’s vision is a vibrant, inclusive, egalitarian Israel where all citizens and families can access the resources they need to thrive, regardless of background. Programs range from operating dozens of childcare centers serving thousands of children annually to running Israel’s most comprehensive family violence prevention and recovery center in Tel Aviv, which combines emergency shelter, trauma counseling, therapy, and legal aid under one roof.
