About NextUp Beth El
NextUp Beth El is the young adult initiative of Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County, an egalitarian Conservative synagogue located in Shalom Park’s Bethesda neighborhood just outside Washington, DC. NextUp creates space for Jewish 20s and 30s to gather socially, build community, and engage with Jewish life through the synagogue.
Programming spans casual social gatherings and Jewish ritual moments alike. Recent events have included ‘Havdalah on the Rocks,’ an Israeli-inspired cocktail demonstration led by an Israeli mixologist paired with a spirited Havdalah, as well as summer happy hours at local spots like BabyCat Brewery with drinks and light bites.
As a program of Congregation Beth El, NextUp draws on the broader resources of the synagogue while offering a peer-driven entry point for young Jewish professionals in the DC metro area to find friendship, conversation, and community.
