About Northwest Yeshiva High School

Northwest Yeshiva High School (NYHS), founded in 1974 and located on Mercer Island near Seattle, is the Pacific Northwest’s only accredited, co-educational, college-preparatory Jewish high school offering a dual curriculum of Judaic and general studies. Students spend their mornings immersed in Jewish text study and Judaic subjects, and their afternoons in a rigorous college-preparatory general studies program, graduating with SAT scores on par with top independent schools in the region and strong records of acceptance to competitive universities.

NYHS cultivates a learning environment that encourages students to ask questions and take ownership of their Jewish identity with intellectual honesty, critical thinking, and creativity. A love for and connection to the State of Israel is central to the school’s mission, and many graduates pursue study in Israel before continuing on to college.

Beyond academics, NYHS emphasizes personal growth, community, and civic engagement, preparing students to be independent learners and thoughtful, engaged members of the Jewish community and broader society long after graduation.
