One8 Foundation

The One8 Foundation is a Boston-based private foundation that operates as a venture philanthropy firm, providing both grant funding and pro bono strategic support to its primary grantees. Formerly known as the Jacobson Family Foundation, it is the charitable vehicle of Jonathon and Joanna Jacobson, and its grantmaking priorities are anchored in the Jewish values of human dignity, social justice, repairing the world, and building robust, caring communities of meaning and purpose.

The foundation invests across four impact areas: Education — supporting educators to expand high-quality applied learning experiences in K-12 and postsecondary classrooms; Jewish Community — building vibrant Jewish communities of meaning and purpose; Israel — supporting a thriving and democratic Jewish State of Israel; and Community Giving — providing vital local support to those in need in the Boston area.

Rather than acting as the agent of change itself, One8 identifies nonprofit organizations with missions, strategies, and capabilities well-matched to its goals and then provides operating support along with strategic consulting drawn from teams with backgrounds at top consulting firms. The foundation focuses its grantmaking on piloting a diverse set of exemplars and scaling what works.
