About Rodeph Sholom School

Rodeph Sholom School (RSS) is an independent Reform Jewish Day School located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, serving students from Nursery/Twos through 8th Grade across an Early Childhood Division and an Elementary/Middle School Division. Affiliated with Congregation Rodeph Sholom, the school was founded in 1970 and has grown into a vibrant, diverse Jewish learning community.

RSS offers a challenging general studies curriculum enhanced by Jewish life and learning rooted in tradition, identity, ethics, and critical thinking. Signature elements of the program include Hebrew language instruction, immersive holiday and Shabbat experiences, text study through programs like Makor, and a capstone 8th Grade Israel Trip that integrates Jewish history, ethics, and contemporary exploration of Israel.

The school’s mission, rooted in Jewish values, is to develop each student’s love of learning and sense of responsibility to themselves and their community through meaningful experiences and intellectual exploration. RSS emphasizes a warm, inclusive community of educators and families who guide students toward becoming self-confident, socially responsible leaders.
