About Taglit-Birthright Israel

Taglit-Birthright Israel — ‘Taglit’ meaning ‘discovery’ in Hebrew — is the world’s largest educational tourism organization, offering free 10-day heritage trips to Israel for Jewish young adults between the ages of 18 and 26. Born from a bold idea, the program brings participants from the United States, the former Soviet Union, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and beyond to explore Israel’s historic sites, landscapes, and culture in an immersive group setting.

Every Birthright Israel trip is a life-changing journey that takes participants from the shores of the Dead Sea and the heights of Masada to the streets of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights. Travelers join peers from around the world, as well as Israeli counterparts — many of them serving in the IDF — to explore personal, religious, and cultural identity together. Niche trip options span culinary, LGBTQ+, arts and culture, campus-focused, and more.

Founded in 1999 and funded through a partnership of individual donors, Jewish communities, and the Government of Israel, Birthright Israel has now sent over 900,000 young Jewish adults on transformative journeys. The program’s ongoing alumni engagement initiative, BEYOND, keeps participants connected to a global Jewish network long after they return home. Birthright Israel’s mission is to strengthen Jewish identity and ensure a vibrant Jewish future worldwide.
