About The Rashi School
The Rashi School is an independent, Reform Jewish day school located in Dedham, Massachusetts, serving students in grades Pre-K through 8. Founded in 1986 and named after the medieval French rabbi and Torah commentator known as Rashi, the school integrates a rigorous secular curriculum with Jewish studies, Hebrew language, and values-based learning.
As the only Reform Jewish Independent School for Grades Pre-K-8 in New England, Rashi follows the principles and practices of Reform Judaism while welcoming families from all Jewish backgrounds and movements, as well as interfaith families. The school emphasizes core values such as kavod (dignity and respect), community, and social justice, encouraging students to engage with the broader Greater Boston community—Jewish and non-Jewish alike.
With a low student-teacher ratio and an enrollment of more than 230 students, Rashi offers a child-centered educational philosophy across academics, the arts, fitness and athletics, and after-school programming. The school also runs multigenerational and alumni programming, and maintains an active culture of philanthropy through its Annual Fund to support financial aid and program excellence.
