Touro University

Touro University is one of the nation’s largest Jewish-sponsored nonprofit institutions of higher and professional education. Founded by Dr. Bernard Lander in 1971 as Touro College, it was granted university status by the New York State Board of Regents in 2021 and now serves approximately 19,000 students across dozens of schools and programs in New York, California, Nevada, Illinois, New Jersey, Montana, and beyond, as well as an international campus in Berlin.

The university’s mission is to uphold and enrich Jewish heritage while providing high-quality educational opportunities to society as a whole, in keeping with the historic Jewish commitment to intellectual inquiry, the transmission of knowledge, and service to society. Touro offers programs spanning medicine, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, education, social work, business, and the allied health sciences, with a number of divisions specifically designed to enrich the Jewish college experience, such as the Lander Colleges.

Touro’s main campus and headquarters recently relocated to 3 Times Square in Midtown Manhattan, consolidating several of its New York schools, including the College of Pharmacy and New York School of Career and Applied Studies, under one roof. The university continues to expand its footprint, including new medical school campuses aimed at serving historically underserved communities.
