The University of Southern California (USC) is a private research university located in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1880, it is one of the oldest and largest private research universities in the United States, home to the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and 21 professional schools spanning business, cinematic arts, engineering, law, medicine, and the arts.

USC’s University Park Campus sits in the heart of Los Angeles near Exposition Park, while its Health Sciences Campus supports the university’s extensive medical research and clinical training programs. The university is known for its strong alumni network, competitive Division I athletics program (the USC Trojans), and its role as a major research and cultural institution on the Pacific Rim.
