About Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston
Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston (JBBBS) has been transforming lives through one-to-one relationships since 1919. The Waltham-based nonprofit believes everyone deserves a friend or mentor who believes in them, and it builds those connections through professionally supported mentoring matches.
Its Children’s Programs pair kids ages 6-18 with volunteer adult mentors (Bigs) who offer role-modeling, encouragement and friendship. JBBBS also supports the whole family with financial support, coaching and referrals to other social service agencies. Specialized offerings include a college mentoring program and a program for LGBTQ+ youth. The Friend 2 Friend program matches adults with disabilities with volunteer friends for connection and community.
Driven by Jewish values, JBBBS serves children and adults across all religions, races, gender identities, sexual orientations and abilities, both Jewish and non-Jewish. It recruits volunteers across the Boston area, including young professionals, through events such as happy hours and its annual fundraising bash.
