Embedded in our religions, our cultures and throughout history, fire has marked the threshold between human and divine. The Burning Bush. The tongues of fire at Pentecost. Pele, Chango, Sekhmet and Breige. The Zarathustrans ate fire. Agni, the Hindu God, transported human messages heavenward through flame. And In the Qur’an, supernatural beings are fashioned from smokeless fire.
But before any of those stories, there was Eden.
Adam and Eve broke their covenant with heaven. Cast out from paradise, they left behind divine wisdom to discover their own. And to guard the way back, an angel wielding a mighty flaming sword was placed, forbidding all who dared approach.
On June 26th we cross that threshold, with a night of daring fire performances and live readings of forbidden knowledge.
Produced by Sinners’ Shabbat, with fire production by Flambeaux Fire
