OVERVIEW:

Birthright Israel began in 1999 with a bold idea – offer young Jewish adults a life-changing trip to Israel to build their Jewish identity and, by doing so, transform the Jewish future. Since its founding, Birthright Israel has provided over 900,000 young Jewish adults with a transformational experience in Israel. In a post October 7th world, our work has become even more important. Birthright Israel North America (“BRINA”) serves as the operational and outreach engine of Birthright Israel, leading logistics, marketing, and recruitment efforts across the United States and Canada while ensuring a seamless connection between eligible applicants and trip organizers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Business Development Coordinator plays a critical role in achieving Birthright Israel’s mission by recruiting Jewish young adults to participate in transformative trips to Israel, internships, fellowships and volunteer opportunities. This role will serve as the primary owner of recruitment and partnership development efforts in the Western region. The ideal candidate is a dynamic relationship builder with experience in campus engagement, community outreach, event execution, and partnership development. The position involves building strong relationships with universities, Jewish organizations, student leaders, camps, youth groups, and community partners to drive participant growth and expand Birthright Israel’s regional presence. The role is responsible for identifying and engaging prospective participants, generating qualified leads, developing strategic partnerships, and executing regional recruitment initiatives that support long-term organizational growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Campus Recruitment

  • Lead Birthright Israel recruitment efforts across the assigned region.
  • Conduct campus visits and regional recruitment initiatives throughout the year.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with Hillel’s, Chabad’s, fraternities, student leaders, and Jewish organizations on campus.
  • Organize and participate in tabling events, info sessions, and other outreach activities on campuses.
  • Strategically maximize recruitment efforts on campus by leveraging student networks, events, and partnerships

Recruiter Outreach & Engagement

  • Identify, recruit, and onboard student recruiters to support campus and community outreach efforts.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions/info sessions to equip recruiters with the necessary tools and knowledge.
  • Oversee the execution of recruitment initiatives by providing guidance and ensuring alignment with overall goals.

Young Lead Generation & Community Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Jewish high schools, summer camps, and youth-serving organizations (e.g., BBYO) to generate interest in Birthright Israel opportunities.
  • Actively engage with educators, camp directors, and youth leaders to introduce programs, provide recruitment resources, and create pipelines of prospective participants.
  • Organize and lead information sessions, presentations, and workshops tailored for teens and their families to ensure smooth transition into future Birthright trips.
  • Develop year-round communication strategies to nurture young leads and maintain visibility within these partner communities.

National Collaboration

  • Participate in and represent Birthright Israel at national events and conferences.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Recruitment Growth to share the best practices and align strategies for each event.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Passion for Birthright Israel’s Mission: A strong commitment to connecting young Jews to Israel and their Jewish identity.

Experience in Recruitment/Engagement: Proven success in recruitment, community engagement, or program coordination, preferably within Jewish or university settings.

Event Planning and Execution: Demonstrated ability to organize and execute successful events.

Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and community partners.

CRM: Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.

Flexibility and Travel: Willingness to travel regionally and nationally, with some trips requiring weekend work.

Location Requirement: Candidates must be based in California
