Jerusalem Peacebuilders seeks a strategic Director of Development to expand philanthropic support for its interfaith youth leadership and teacher training programs in the United States and the Middle East.

About Jerusalem Peacebuilders

Jerusalem Peacebuilders (JPB) is an interfaith, nonprofit organization providing peace and leadership educational programs for Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Druze students and teachers. These programs bring together participants from Jerusalem, Israel, Palestine, and the United States to develop the confidence, skills, and relationships needed to lead for peace. Grounded in a multipartial approach, JPB advances informed, peace leadership among all parties involved.

JPB operates school leadership and communications programs in classrooms across Texas and the Holy Lands for students in grades 9 – 12. In addition, there are also Summer Institutes in Texas, Cyprus, Switzerland, and Northern Ireland. Each two-week program is led by JPB staff and is designed to foster leadership and peacebuilding skills through dialogue, service projects, and experiential learning.

JPB’s teacher-training program, EXCEL, provides Israeli Arab and Jewish high school educators with the language and intercultural training to integrate peacebuilding and youth leadership curriculum in their classrooms. These year-round programs meet online and in Jerusalem, Nazareth, Cambridge, and Northern Ireland and are conducted in partnership with leading educational institutions.

As JPB enters its next phase, it seeks to grow beyond its existing base and build a more robust major gifts program focused on high-net-worth individuals and institutional donors across the United States. This includes expanding prospect research, launching targeted mini campaigns, and strengthening systems that support long term sustainability.

About the Position

This is a remarkable opportunity for an experienced development leader to join Jerusalem Peacebuilders at a critical time. The ideal candidate will have deep cross-cultural sensitivity, a passion for interfaith peacebuilding in the Holy Lands, and an eagerness to roll up their sleeves and get things done. They will be part of a small team to achieve ambitious fundraising goals and help shape the next chapter of JPB’s growth. The current annual goal is $1.3M.

The position will report to The Rev. Canon Nicholas Porter, President and Vice President Dorothy Porter and will work closely with Executive Director Dr. Elias Farah and senior leadership. The Director of Development (DOD) will be responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, growing the organization’s major gifts program, and expanding philanthropic engagement beyond its current networks. The DOD will manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors, cultivate new prospects nationally, and secure significant commitments in support of JPB’s mission.

This individual will work across time zones, manage a communications intern, and partner with leadership to help strengthen overall fundraising systems and performance. The role requires a demonstrated track record of securing major gifts, grants, comfort engaging in nuanced conversations about peace in the Middle East, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean organization.

This position is fully remote and U.S. based, with preference for candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones. Regular domestic travel and periodic international travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Growth

• Design and implement a comprehensive development strategy aligned with organizational priorities and annual fundraising goals
• Build and manage a strong major gifts and grants pipeline, expanding beyond existing networks to engage high net worth individuals and new funders nationally.
• Identify and research new revenue opportunities aligned with JPB’s educational and peacebuilding programs.
• Establish clear metrics and track progress toward defined fundraising goals.

Major Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-capacity donors and funders.
• Develop tailored engagement strategies aligned with JPB’s multipartisan mission.
• Partner with senior leadership in high level donor meetings and relationship building.
• Ensure consistent stewardship and impact reporting.

Campaigns and Communications

• Lead targeted mini campaigns tied to program priorities.
• Manage and mentor a communications intern to strengthen donor messaging and outreach.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional fundraising experience with track record of securing gifts and grants at the six-figure level
• Proven ability to design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
• Experience building and expanding prospect pipelines beyond established relationships and institutional networks.
• Ability to set clear revenue goals, develop forecasts, and track performance against measurable benchmarks.
• Experience strengthening fundraising systems, donor tracking, and reporting infrastructure in a growing, complex organization.
• Comfort representing an organization externally with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and institutional partners.
• Experience leading targeted campaigns tied to strategic programmatic growth.
• Strong cross-cultural fluency and deep sensitivity to Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Druze communities.
• Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
• Experience collaborating across program, communications, and leadership teams to align fundraising with mission delivery.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
