About Bernikow JCC Staten Island
The Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island opened its doors in 1929 as the Isador Aberlin/North Shore JCC, with a mission to provide a home for the Jewish community offering social, recreational, and educational activities where people of all races and religions would feel welcome. Over nearly a century, the JCC has occupied various buildings across the borough while maintaining its core commitment to serving those in need across Staten Island.
Today the JCC of Staten Island is dedicated to encouraging harmony throughout the community by providing facilities and programs open to all, regardless of race, religion, creed, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or political affiliation. Its offerings span fitness and wellness, a pool and swim programs, early childhood education, youth sports, arts and enrichment, and a renowned summer day camp that has served Staten Island families for over 90 years.
The JCC also hosts community-wide events, holiday celebrations, and shared experiences that bring people of all ages together, alongside programs such as the Hillel of Staten Island, JCC Young Leaders, and various philanthropic initiatives including donor-advised funds and annual fundraising events like the Alan Bernikow Memorial JCC Golf & Tennis Classic.
