About Congregation Anshey Sfard
Congregation Anshey Sfard is a Sephardic synagogue located in San Francisco’s Central Richmond district, one of only two Sephardic houses of worship in the city. The congregation offers daily and Shabbat prayer services rooted in Sephardic and Mizrahi tradition, along with a rich calendar of cultural and educational programming that draws on centuries of Sephardic Jewish heritage.
Beyond religious services, Anshey Sfard has become known as a hub for Sephardic life in the Bay Area, hosting monthly Sephardic Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, and cultural events that blend education, food, and community. The synagogue is actively building out the “Sephardic Center of San Francisco & Silicon Valley,” with the goal of becoming the heart of Sephardic life in the region for Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews alike.
The congregation runs dedicated programming for young adults and young professionals through its Young Professionals Committee (YPC) and Young Adults Anshey Sfard (YAAS) volunteer network, which organizes Sephardic Shabbat dinners, holiday gatherings, and social events aimed at connecting young Jews in their 20s and 30s with Sephardic tradition and community.
