Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1981 by a group of Holocaust survivors. FIDF is the official organization authorized to collect charitable donations on behalf of the soldiers of the IDF across the United States, working in direct coordination with Israel’s Ministry of Defense to support IDF soldiers, veterans, and the families of fallen soldiers.
The organization funds a wide range of educational, financial, well-being, and cultural initiatives designed to ease the burdens soldiers carry while serving the State of Israel, including scholarships, mental-health and wellness programs, family support, and care for wounded veterans.
Headquartered in New York City, FIDF operates through 25 regional offices across the United States plus an office in Latin America, hosting galas, missions to Israel, and community events nationwide. Its Young Leadership (YL) division engages young professionals through Shabbat dinners, parlor meetings with soldiers, and large-scale fundraising galas.
