The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, known as “The J,” has served the Kansas City Jewish and secular communities since it opened in 1914 in midtown Kansas City, Missouri, later relocating and expanding its campus to Overland Park, Kansas.
The J’s mission is to build a strong, vibrant, and inclusive community that enhances wellness, meaning, and joy based on Jewish values, heritage, and culture. It offers a wide range of programs and facilities including fitness, sports, and aquatics centers, early childhood and youth education, arts and cultural programming, senior services, and community events, welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds.
Today, following a significant renovation, The J stands as one of the largest community centers in the Kansas City area, providing a “home away from home” where members and guests can learn, grow, and connect through Jewish culture and communal life.
