About Jewish Community Relations Bureau|AJC
The Jewish Community Relations Bureau|AJC (JCRB|AJC) is a non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization serving as the primary advocacy voice for the Jewish communities of Greater Kansas City, Kansas, and western Missouri. Founded in 1944 in the shadow of the Holocaust, the Jewish Community Relations Bureau merged with AJC’s Kansas City Chapter in 1991 to form today’s unique hybrid agency — combining the reach of AJC’s global Jewish advocacy network with deep local community relations work.
JCRB|AJC works to combat antisemitism and all forms of hate, promote Israel’s place in the world, and advance social justice by building reciprocal interfaith and intergroup relationships. The organization cultivates relationships with elected officials, law enforcement, school administrators, media, and business and civic leaders at the local, state, and federal levels.
Key programs include government relations and public policy advocacy, interfaith and intergroup dialogue, education initiatives for schools and students (such as the ‘Leading from the Heart’ high school advocacy program), and corporate inclusion training through its Making Space program. JCRB|AJC also hosts community events such as its biannual Unity Seder, bringing together people of all faiths.
As AJC’s regional office for Kansas and western Missouri, JCRB|AJC connects local community members to AJC’s global network while remaining rooted in the Greater Kansas City region. The organization represents Jewish community interests in interfaith forums, counters extremism, and equips community members with tools to address antisemitism in everyday settings.
