Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties is the problem-solving center for Bay Area residents facing personal crises or life challenges. As a trusted resource for children, families, and older adults, JFCS provides compassionate, professional services regardless of faith, background, or income level.
Founded in 1850, JFCS is one of the oldest and largest human service agencies in the United States and the oldest charitable organization west of the Mississippi River. Each year, JFCS serves over 120,000 people through more than 40 award-winning programs, including Parents Place family resource centers, Seniors At Home, the Center for Special Needs, the Child Training Institute, counseling services, legal aid, and a Holocaust Center.
Guided by the Jewish traditions of advancing human dignity, community responsibility, intergenerational ties, and repairing the world (tikkun olam), JFCS serves individuals of all ages and faiths. Its programs span mental health counseling, home care for seniors, youth volunteer opportunities, services for people with disabilities, immigration legal services, and support for those experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, or trauma.
