Jewish Federation of Detroit

The Jewish Federation of Detroit is the cornerstone of the Detroit Jewish community. Its mission is to take care of the needs of the Jewish people and build a vibrant Jewish future in Detroit, in Israel, and around the world, encouraging every member of the Detroit Jewish community to get involved.

As the fundraising arm and communal planning organization of the region, the Federation brings together volunteers, donors, agencies, and partners to address the health, welfare, educational, cultural, and spiritual needs of the Jewish community locally, in Israel, and worldwide. It distributes funds to a network of 16 affiliated local agencies as well as overseas partners, supporting services for people of all ages — from housing and food assistance to mental health and job support, from youth programs to services for older adults.

The Federation also houses NEXTGen Detroit, its young adult division, which engages Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s through social experiences, leadership development, and philanthropy, and has become a national model for young-adult Jewish engagement since its 2012 launch.
