About Jewish United Fund of Chicago

The Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF), also known as the Jewish Federation of Chicago, is one of the largest not-for-profit social welfare institutions in Illinois and serves as the central address of Chicago’s Jewish community. Since 1900, JUF has worked to give voice to the community and ensure that necessities are provided for its most vulnerable members, including children, immigrants, the poor, the elderly, and the disabled.

JUF funds and coordinates a network of nearly 70 partner agencies and programs that deliver food, refuge, health care, education, and emergency assistance to hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans of all faiths, as well as millions of Jews around the world, including in Israel and countries of the former Soviet Union. The organization brings together philanthropy, community relations, and Jewish engagement under one roof, supporting everything from human services and Jewish education to advocacy and young leadership development.

Beyond fundraising, JUF offers a wide range of engagement opportunities for the Chicago Jewish community, including a Young Leadership Division, Women’s Philanthropy, a Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), congregational partnerships, and programming for teens, young families, and young professionals, making it a hub for both philanthropic giving and community connection.
