About JFCS of Southern Arizona
Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JFCS) of Southern Arizona began in 1941 as the Jewish Welfare Society, which grew out of the Hebrew Ladies Benevolent Society of Tucson, before evolving through several names to become JFCS in 1988. Today it is a private, non-sectarian 501(c)(3) behavioral health and social service organization serving people of all faiths, ages, and backgrounds throughout Southern Arizona.
JFCS offers a broad range of services including individual, couples, family, and group counseling for people ages 6 and up, older adult services, emergency financial assistance, abuse and neglect prevention services for families, divorce recovery support, and refugee resettlement services. The agency also provides specialized case management, counseling, financial assistance, and in-home support for Holocaust survivors, as well as support for Afghan survivors of combat trauma.
Grounded in the value of healing the world with loving kindness, JFCS is committed to reducing the stigma of seeking mental health care and to offering person-centered, trauma-informed treatment. The agency’s mission is to empower community members to overcome challenges, build self-sufficiency, and strengthen family life, regardless of their faith, age, gender, ethnicity, or background.
