About Maimonides Fund
Maimonides Fund is a private philanthropic organization committed to securing a thriving Jewish future. It supports national organizations and scalable initiatives that strengthen Israeli vitality and security while empowering North American Jews to embrace their heritage, deepen community connections, and forge meaningful Jewish journeys. The Fund takes its name from the twelfth-century scholar and physician Maimonides (Rabbi Moses ben Maimon, the Rambam), and is dedicated to fostering deep commitment to Jewish tradition while engaging with the broader world of ideas, science, and innovation.
The Fund pursues its mission through strategic grantmaking, convening, research, program incubation, and thought leadership across core areas including Jewish life and learning, film and media, and strengthening ties between North America and Israel. It works with a selective approach, partnering with organizations and stakeholders rather than accepting unsolicited proposals, and emphasizes ambitious, scalable, and measurable initiatives that can drive systemic change in the Jewish community.
Based in New York City with a presence in Jerusalem, Maimonides Fund is led by a team that includes Managing Director Felicia Herman, and has launched initiatives such as a Scholar in Residence program, the Digital Storytellers Lab for Jewish media creators, and collaborations like the partnership with the Constructive Dialogue Institute to support viewpoint diversity within Jewish organizations.
