About National Ramah Commission
The National Ramah Commission (NRC), affiliated with The Jewish Theological Seminary, is the coordinating body of the Ramah Camping Movement, the camping arm of Conservative Judaism. Founded in 1947, Ramah’s mission is to create and sustain excellent summer camps and Israel programs that inspire commitment to Jewish life and develop the next generation of Jewish leaders.
The Ramah network includes overnight camps across the US and Canada, day camps, and Ramah programs in Israel, serving thousands of campers, teens, and staff each summer. Immersive Jewish living, including Shabbat, Hebrew, and informal Jewish education, is woven together with traditional camp activities like swimming, sports, dance and art.
Beyond the camps, the NRC supports leadership development, staff training, fellowships such as Amitei Ramah, the Tikvah Network for campers with special needs, and alumni engagement through Reshet Ramah, including Ramah Ba’Ir programming for 20s and 30s and the Ramah Alumni and College networks. The national office is based in New York City.
