The Jewish Board

The Jewish Board (formally the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services) is one of the United States’ largest nonprofit mental health and social service agencies, and New York State’s largest social services nonprofit, tracing its roots back to 1845. Its programs are non-sectarian, and nearly half of its clients are not Jewish.

The organization operates community-based programs, residential facilities, and day-treatment centers across all five boroughs of New York City as well as Westchester County and Long Island, supporting more than 45,000 individuals and families each year with services spanning early childhood development, counseling for children and teens, family violence intervention, supportive housing, services for adults living with mental illness, and support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Guided by values of hope, recovery, and resilience, The Jewish Board describes its mission as empowering New Yorkers by providing integrated mental health and social services with compassion and expertise. It is a beneficiary agency of UJA-Federation of New York, which provides both funding and support for specific initiatives, alongside partnerships with Jewish communal organizations to deliver culturally responsive care such as its Lev Initiative for Jewish survivors of intimate partner violence.
